Project 52 – Week 25 – Angles
Friday morning means a new Project 52 post for you to feast your eyes on. Some of the members of the Beautiful Beasties Network (a professional pet photographers’ forum) are taking on the challenge of doing pet-related photography, with a theme that changes every week, for an entire year. The goal is to start shooting outside the box, to challenge ourselves as photographers and to expand our vision and talents. So far I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my participation, and I have learned to look at my dogs and their accoutrements in a different light (and at a different angle).
North Carolina pet photographer Steph Skardal chose thetheme for this week. The assignment for this week is “angles”. Angles are a really big part of portrait photography, and posing humans. See how you can look for flattering angles or interest angles in a pet photo with this assignment!
When I first read this assignment, I thought that Steph had chosen angels, and I figured I had this in the bag. Because we all know that the KLAD kids are angels, right????
This is definitely Jack Jack’s best angle when he’s feeling snooty and aristocratic . . . which is 100% of the time once I pull out my camera.
I tried going behind and off to the side of Jack Jack, to try and get a photo of him looking off into the horizon . . . but he couldn’t stand not looking at mom, so this is what I got.
This is BY FAR the best angle for photos of Miss Grace. I think she looks infinitely wise in this picture. I love how darned cute her nose is, and the expression in her eyes.
Grace didn’t enjoy the photo shoot as much as I did . . . .
This is the angle I shoot from the most for Farley (aka Old Dog). Let’s face it (ha ha ha, bad pun), he looks like the King of the World that he is.
This is the “Don’t make me come over there” look that he reserves for rowdy puppies and children alike.
I was trying to catch the sun coming in from the window behind Farley, so I shot from below and the side . . . I like the effect. Heck, he’s cute from ALL angles!
I you’ve enjoying the various angles (not to be confused with angels!) of KLAD. As this is a blog ring, please continue on to Nashville pet photographer Kelly Coyle’s blog for more awesome photos . Once you’re done with the other Kelly’s blog, keep clicking through the links at the end of each blog until you get back here, and you’ll have seen all of the Project 52 blog posts for this week.

I love Farley’s, ‘don’t make me come over there’ look and Jack’s, ‘I turn my nose up at you’ look. All good angles!
